Week 6: Blues, Brews & BBQ's
You asked for it – the return of the Blues, Brews & BBQ’s Fest BB&B), this year with two great bands: Great Groove Theory and Frankie Boy and the Blues Express, in a special 5:00 – 8:30 performance in the Angela Robinson Bandstand, July 18th. Our sponsors that evening are the Henniker Chamber of Commerce and Henniker Brewing Company.
The Henniker Chamber’s purpose is to promote Henniker growth and prosperity through membership participation, welcome visitors and newcomers, promote the area and its businesses and to provide educational opportunities to its members. We welcome their participation this year.
On tap that evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM will be beer sampling from Henniker Brewing Company. $10.00 buys you 5 samples of their best home-grown brews. Since 2011, Henniker Brewing has been brewing beers that we like to drink, that New Hampshire could be proud to call its own. Our brewery is tucked away in the woods of Henniker at 129 Centervale Road.
Serving up a selection of smoked meats and sides will be R&J Texas Style BBQ. R& J’s began in 2018 as a catering business. It evolved into a food truck in 2020 during the pandemic finally settling in Hillsborough in February 2021. Serving up authentic Texas BBQ ribs, they were a big hit during the 2022 Concert Series.
But what is truly the highlight of the event are the two bands who will be performing starting with Great Groove Theory, a band that has been running jams all over the Monadnock Region for almost 20 years. The band started out at the famous Rynborn Blues Club in the early 2000’s running the popular Thursday open mic night. They have called many places home over the years including E.F. Lane Hotel in Keene and Harlows Pub in Peterborough. The band prides itself in being an inclusive experience for audience members. Their sound has one foot squarely in blues, with a blend of funk, rock and jam band in the overall sound.
Frankie Boy & The Blues Express is a New Hampshire based blues band led by front man, guitarist and songwriter Frankie Boy Blues. The group consists of four members playing unique new blues and some of their favorite covers. “The Blues Express” style ranges from traditional Blues to funk all the way to hip-hop. This is real home-grown electric blues with Chicago and Texas roots. In addition to front man Frankie Boy, the band consists of: Mickey Maguire, Bass/ Vocals, Mike Morgan, Guitar and Harrison Foti, drums. Listen to the band at https://youtu.be/LkT6aza-d0Q. Winners of the 2019 and 2022 Granite State Blues Society Blues Challenge, Frankie Boy & The Blues Express will bring their, funky, fresh, raw, rugged Blues power to the town in this repeat engagement.
