VEGETABLE OIL PROGRAM
A NRRA Cooperative Recycling Program
It is estimated that up to 3 billion gallons of used vegetable oil either ends up in our landfills or down our drains.
Recycled vegetable oil will be used for local heat recovery, transportation or electricity production. Every ounce used for these purposes will help reduce our dependence on oil, and in addition, the Town will be receiving revenue to dispose of the oil in this fashion.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Acceptable Cooking Oil Products
We will accept multiple containers that can hold up to 5 gallons each of: Canola, soy, palm, olive, corn, peanut, cotton seed, vegetable (a combination of several oils). The above oils must be in a liquid state.
Unacceptable
NOT ACCEPTED: Lard.
Program begins Tuesday 3/31/09.
Please notify an attendant when you arrive at the Transfer Station for proper disposal. This program is being instituted to alleviate the burden of grease disposal being dumped into the public sewer system.
