West Nile Virus Detected in New Hampshire for the 2012 Season

AUGUST 6, 2012 In a recent health alert from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NHDHHS), the Town of Henniker has been notified that the first positive mosquito pool of the 2012 arboviral season has tested positive for West Nile Virus in Manchester, New Hampshire.

NHDHHS recommends that communities:

Maintain/enhance surveillance efforts
Educate citizens on the public health effects of mosquito-borne diseases
Develop, maintain and implement a local mosquito control plan that involves preparation, response, public education, surveillance and mosquito control
