Henniker Congregational Church to Present 9/11
Memorial Concert
In honor of Henniker's Fire Department and Rescue Squad
On Saturday, September 10 at 7 pm, the Henniker Congregational Church will
present a Homecoming Swing Concert featuring The Prodigals Jazz Band. The
concert will be presented to commemorate the ten-year anniversary of September
11, 2001, and in honor of Henniker's Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
The concert is presented free of charge, but donations will gladly be accepted.
The show will also be preceded by a pot luck supper, to which all are welcome.
Please bring an entree or side dish to share if you are so inclined.
The Prodigals are a nine piece jazz band made up of professional and amateur
musicians from around the region. The concert program will feature jazz
standards like Thelonius Monk's classic “Blue Monk”, Johnny Mercer's “Accentuate
the Positive” and traditional tunes like “This Old House” and “Just a Closer
Walk with Thee”, all presented in new arrangements by the band's own Bob Maccini.
The highlight of the evening promises to be a new arrangement of John Williams'
stirring “Hymn to the Fallen” for brass trio, in recognition of the historic
ten-year anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
