Hurricane Irene Storm Information

August 26, 2011

Dear Henniker Resident

In preparing for Hurricane Irene I wanted to take a brief moment to update you on the situation. The Town of Henniker Emergency Operations Center will be open beginning Saturday at 2pm. I plan on being at the EOC located at the Henniker Fire and Rescue Department from Saturday 2pm and through out the storm.

A shelter plan has been put in place and if needed will be opened to residence. The shelter will be located at the Henniker Community School and the operations status can be located on the Town of Henniker Emergency Management Facebook page, by calling the Town of Henniker Fire Department (603/428-7552), and there will be a sign located outside the department as well.

We ask all residents to make preparations at this time. I will suggest that residents be prepared for the worst case scenario and prepare to be without power for a few days. I ask that you prepare to have supplies on hand if this does occur. I ask that you also secure items around your home that could be picked up by strong wind gusts, such as bird feeders, grills etc.

I also ask that you report damage to your home, property or vehicle to the emergency management director and if possible take a picture of the damage. Please include a description of the damage, address, and your contact information. You can send this information electronically by email to hennikeremd@me.com or by contacting Tia Hooper, Emergency Management Director directly at 603-724-4611.

Sincerely yours,
Tia Maria M. Hooper
