FROM THE N.H. DEPT. OF REVENUE ADMINISTRATION:
Dear Town Official:
As you may know it is time again for New Hampshire's Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief program set forth under RSA 198:57. Last year, more than 17,000 New Hampshire residents applied for State Education Property Tax relief. Many of those applicants contacted their local town office for assistance. In your effort to assist constituents with their tax relief applications, you may find the information provided below helpful.
The Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief application filing period is after May 1, 2011, but before June 30, 2011. To be eligible for property tax relief, an applicant must:
a) Own a homestead or an interest in a homestead that
is subject to the State
Education property Tax;
b) Have resided in the homestead on April 1, 2010, except such persons
as are on
active duty as provided for in RSA 198:57, III(b); and
c) Meet the following total household income levels:
1) Households with one single adult
member, $20,000 or less;
2) Households with 2 or more adult members, $40,000 or less; or
3) Head of a New Hampshire household, $40,000 or less.
As you may be aware, the NH Department of Revenue Administration no longer automatically supplies Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief Applications (Form DP-8) to municipalities. Application forms and additional program information is available on the Department’s website at http://www.nh.gov/revenue/forms/low_mod_program.htm. Applications will be mailed upon request by contacting the Department’s Forms Line at (603) 271-2192. In addition, applicants can also obtain information about the program at (603) 271-2191.
Thank you in advance for your continued assistance with this
program.
Sincerely,
New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration
