Henniker Holiday Harmony!

Joy to the World! It’s time for the annual Henniker Holiday Concert, this year featuring the Concord Vocal Octet and pianist extraordinaire, Will Ogmundson, Sunday, December 4th 2:00 – 4:30 PM, Simon Center, New England College. Following the concert, which will include a carol sing, visit from Santa and refreshments, we will gather in front of Town Hall for hot chocolate and lighting of the town Christmas tree, followed by more carol singing, led by members of the John Stark High School Chorus.

Following the performances, the group will convene at the Town Hall for hot chocolate, a carol sing and lighting of the town Christmas tree, a renewed holiday tradition. The concert is presented by the Town of Henniker with Chartwells Dining Service and New England College as co-sponsors and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Tom Dunn, dunnt@comcast.net

ABOUT THE CONCORD VOCAL OCTET:  Leading off the festivities is The Concord Vocal Octet (CVO). Started in 1980 by 8 members of the Concord Chorale, an auditioned chorus in Concord, NH,  the CVO performs mostly a cappella pieces that range from classical baroque to pop. They have performed at venues in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Ohio; at many NH ceremonial events and at weddings, funerals; nursing homes; restaurants; retirement centers and churches, both large and small throughout the state.  The joy they find being together making beautiful music is readily apparent to their audiences who gave them a most enthusiastic welcome when they performed in Henniker at a Music at the Meetinghouse concert devoted to choral music groups last spring.

ABOUT WILL OMGMUNDSON:  Returning for the second year is Will Ogmundson. Classically trained, Ogmundson plays in a wide variety of musical genres, interpreting compositions of others as well as his own. Well-known internationally, he has performed at major venues including Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He will be playing music from his Holiday CD, “How Far Is It to Bethlehem” featuring several centuries of well-known holiday classics. He will also lead the traditional carol sing that closes every Henniker Holiday celebration and will again put together a “musical mash-up” of audience requests of holiday favorites.
